Normally, ibidem will suggest the best format for your publication based on our market experience and the specifications of your book. Alongside the paperback or hardback edition, we publish all our titles as e-books on various platforms, selling to individuals as well as to the library market.

Paperback

The paperback is the most common format for scientific publications. Our paperback editions are extremely durable thanks to high-quality printing and binding. The most typical trim sizes are A5 (5.8 x 8.3 inches), B5 (6.9 x 9.8 inches), or A4 (8.3 x 11.7 inches). Other sizes are available upon request. Although paperback binding can be done for books of up to 1.500 pages length, it works best for page extents of up to 500. After that a hardback binding is the better option.

Hardback

Hardbacks are often used for edited collections, large textbooks, and highly specialized monographs. Their strong binding makes them extremely durable for frequent use, e.g. in libraries and university repositories. They normally come in the same standard trim sizes as the paperbacks, special sizes are possible on request. We can also accommodate for bookmark ribbons and other extra features.

If desired we can additionally offer hand-made linen covers with fully customized, stamped embossments and dust-jackets. This unique format is most popular with Festschrift books and for other special occasions. For the most distinguished occasions we can even provide hardcovers with leather binding and gold embossements, manually produced by artisan book binders.

E-book

E-books are becoming a more and more important part of international book sales. All of our books are available through multiple e-book aggregators to individuals and the library market.
